The Shrine of Mithras

During the time of the Romans life flourished in this settlement and its surroundings, which is verified by numerous building riuns and the graveyard. The most ancient relic from the period may be found in the Mitharas Cavern, which lies north of the village on the banks of Lake Fertő close the modern border. The cavern was discovered by a stonemason named György Malleschitz. With the architect from Sopron, Ferenc Storno he was clearing away the earth underbrush when he found a cave whose back wall was covered with two and half meter stone carved in relief was rendering of the god Mithras as the bull slayer.
